I have over 22 years policing experience and previously worked as a detention officer in custody and a former Royal Navy engineer working on nuclear submarines. I am PC Ridley and I cover Barnard Castle Town
I previously worked for the Fire Service as a Firefighter for Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service, this gave me an insight into helping the communities around me. Therefore, I knew I wanted to progress this further and protect people to the best of my ability, prompting me to join Durham Constabulary in 2020, initially as a Tri-Service Community Safety Responder in Weardale. In this job, I was a PCSO, a Firefighter and a First Responder for the Ambulance Service. After doing this role for 3 years I knew I wanted to become a Police Officer, so I joined as a Constable in March 2023. My aim as a Police Officer is to try and problem solve the issues that are affecting communities most. I enjoy working alongside residents to get the best possible outcomes for any issues that are ongoing and enjoy building rapport with the locals and key people, this I hope shows them that there is a face behind the uniform and that I am there to assist as best I can.
