Request a collision report
Please note: if you submitted a road traffic incident report on this site, you'll be able to download a copy of your report once you've submitted it. That report is a collision report. You can then send that report to your insurance company or solicitor.
If you're a solicitor or an insurance agent, you can apply, on behalf of your client, for a copy of any existing collision reports the police have made or hold. You can also request an interview with the police officer who dealt with the road traffic collision, as long as it's been investigated.
Individuals can also apply for collision reports if they are representing themselves in civil proceedings – proof of civil proceeding will need to be provided.
Providing a police reference number is very helpful. It will be in one of these formats:
- a call log reference number, often called a STORM number. It will start DHM-DDMMYYYY and end with four-digit numbers
- you may alternatively have a CRaSH reference number beginning with URN followed by 7 digits
- for insurers or solicitors please use the following: Company Name/Full Client Name/VRM of vehicle or state pedestrian.
How to apply

Please make sure you add all the relevant details, otherwise we'll have to charge you an extra administration fee.
Costs
A £41.90 search fee is required upon receipt of the Request a Collision Report.
Other charges, in relation to the Collison Report, can vary depending on the documents available.
Any documents available, and proposed charges, will be detailed via emails to the email address you provide in the form.
Please include on the form your preferred payment method (BACS/cheque).

We'll let you know we've received your request within seven working days.
Third party details, if we have them, can be released immediately on receipt of the required payment).
We can only release full accident reports once all enquiries and any court proceedings have been completed.
