Off-road bikes used illegally often cause noise nuisance, danger to pedestrians and damage to local green spaces. Taking these vehicles off the road helps prevent accidents and restores peace in our neighbourhoods. This remains as one of the priorities.

The team will continue to:

- Increase patrols in the hotspot areas to engage with any youths that are causing problems
- Engage with the community to gather intelligence
- Use of our section 59 powers and feeding in intelligence to Op Endurance to target our bike sections patrols accordingly
- Working with partner agencies such as Durham County Council, and housing providers
- Work alongside Durham County Councils ASB Team targeting offenders of ASB

In recent weeks, officers have seized numerous vehicles in Shotton Colliery for being driven in an antisocial manner. These actions form part of out ongoing commitment to tackle dangerous and antisocial driving, which has a negative impact on our local communities.

Shoplifting: This isn’t a victimless crime – it impacts local businesses, raises prices for honest customers and can contribute to wider issues of antisocial behaviour. Being visible helps us deter crime and support shop owners directly.

Action taken by police to tackle shoplifting includes:

-Dealing robustly with offenders involved in shop theft offences
-Seeking remand for repeat offenders to appear at the next available court heating
-We are working to apply for Criminal Behaviour Orders against persistant offenders to help prevent further offending.

Youth Nuisance / ASB:

Whilst recent data shows a decrease in incidents involving young people, we recognize that this remains a priority and an issue that will continue to impact residents.

We have recently taken action to close a business that had been identified as a location attracting young people and contributing to antisocial behavior within the area. Since its closure, we have seen a notable reduction in reports of ASB, and we believe this has had a significant impact on the local community.

We will continue to:
- Carry out high visibility patrols along with colleagues from Durham County Council Neighbourhood Wardens Team and ASB Team
- Have ASB meetings to discuss ASB suspects with our Durham County Council colleagues and housing provider teams.
- Use Anti-Social Behaviour Contracts (ABC), Community Protection Warnings (CPW) and Community Protection Notices on offenders of ASB
- Gather intelligence
- Work with and support victims of ASB
- Engage with local schools
