Being a detective for one of the country’s top-performing police forces, you will need to be compassionate, resilient and above all dedicated to making County Durham and Darlington a safer place. But being a detective isn’t for everyone – it’s one of the most challenging careers you can choose, being physically, mentally and emotionally demanding.
As a detective you will manage complex and serious investigations and work as an investigative expert on a number of different investigations including theft, fraud, cybercrime, domestic abuse and sexual assault. As well as playing a critical role in supporting the most vulnerable victims of crime.
There are endless opportunities to further you career as an investigator in Durham Constabulary, whether you want to move up the ranks or join a more specialist team there will be a role suited to you.
There is no other job like it in the world - no two days are ever the same, it’s challenging, hard work, and stressful, but finishing your shift knowing you have made a difference to someone’s life is hugely rewarding.
