The procurement team aims to achieve the best value for Durham Constabulary in procuring products and services. This aim will be delivered through the procurement strategy and its associated action plan.
The procurement team deals with all higher-value competitive procurement exercises (Tenders), which may result in a contract and expediting purchase orders for products and services to meet the force's needs.
The award of contracts for the supply of products and services is managed by the force and the Office of the Durham Police and Crime Commissioner financial regulations and in compliance with relevant EU legislation and directives.
To achieve the best value and efficiencies, Durham Constabulary will seek to participate in regional and national framework contracts in collaboration with other forces and public sector organisations.
Most invitations to tender are advertised on the In-Tend Portal and where appropriate also in local press or trade journals depending on actual contract requirement.
Please use the following link for our blue light supplier portal should you want to participate in a Tender exercise which is advertised.
Please note: Our portal is FREE to register, if suppliers go to the wrong portal, they may be asked to pay a fee to register and will not have access to the blue light opportunities.
Contracts which need to be publicly available are displayed on the Contracts Register. Select the ‘Contracts’ tab at the top right of the page to access the public contracts register. A login is not required to access the Contracts Register.
The new pending amendments to the public sector procurement regulations will impact on both public sector buying organisations and their suppliers.
If you are a service provider and/or supplier to Durham Constabulary, we would like to draw your attention to the below link that may assist with providing an introduction to the Procurement Act 2023 and the new regulations which will go live on Monday, February 24, 2025.
Get ready for go-live on 24 February 2025
Ultimately it will be for the buying organisations to manage relevant procurement process, but it is also important that all service providers are sighted on this as well to allow time to prepare. This is your opportunity to familiarise yourself with the Act and the changes you will need to make.
