Tributes paid to man who died in A1(M) collision

The family of a man who died in a collision on the A1(M) have said their “hearts are destroyed”. 

Jordan Orrock died when the car he was driving was involved in a collision on the A1(M) near Chester-le-Street on Sunday evening (April 26).  

The 20-year-old, from South Shields, sustained critical injuries during the incident and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. 

His family have today described him as “the life and soul of the party who lit up every room he walked into”. 

In a touching tribute, they said: “Jordan will be sadly missed by his mam, Angela, his siblings Ryan, Lewis, Jamie, and Charlie, his right-hand man, his dog, Tyson, and his beloved family and friends. 

“Jordan was the life and soul of the party who lit up every room he walked into. Our family’s hearts are destroyed. 

“We would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time, and would ask that we are left alone to grieve in peace.”

Jordan was driving a black Mercedes A Class which is believed to have struck the central reservation before coming to rest on its roof. 

A 20-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle. 

Sadly, he died as a result of his injuries on Monday night. 

A second passenger, a man also aged 20, sustained serious injuries and was taken hospital for treatment. 

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle prior to the incident, which happened at around 10.50pm.
