Police are now able to release the identity of a driver who died following a collision on the A1(M) at the weekend.
Keith Royal was driving on the northbound carriageway of the motorway between Bowburn and Carrville shortly after 11.40pm on Saturday, when his Audi collided with a roadside barrier, before overturning.
Emergency services attended but sadly the 41-year-old, from Sedgefield, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family have today released a photograph of Mr Royal, who was a father, brother, husband and son and friend to many.
A police investigation is underway and witnesses, particularly anyone who has dashcam footage of Mr Royal’s vehicle in the minutes leading up to the collision, to come forward.
Witnesses are asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident 538 of October 10.
