Two arrested following suspected stabbing in Darlington

Two people have been arrested following a suspected stabbing in Darlington last night.

Officers were called at 1.05am today (January 8) to reports that a man had been assaulted at the BP garage on High Northgate.

He sustained a number of stab wounds and has been taken to James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, for treatment.

His condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

Two men, aged 38 and 26, have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been taken into police custody.

Detective Inspector Lee Foster, from Darlington CID, said: “This was an extremely frightening incident for the man involved, who has sustained serious injuries as a result of the assault.

“Officers worked quickly throughout the night to locate and arrest the suspects, and bring them into police custody where they remain today.

“We are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident – if you have any information that could assist our investigation, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
