Five charged following death of man in Seaham

Five people have been charged following the death of a man in Seaham.

Officers responded to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian on Stockton Road, Seaham, at around 4.50pm on Thursday, January 15.

Daniel Ambler sustained serious injuries, and the 23-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A murder investigation was launched by Durham Constabulary’s Major Crime Team, and five people have today been charged in connection with the incident.

Barry Anderson, 51, Ashton Anderson, 19, and Barry Logan Anderson, 18, have been charged with murder and violent disorder.

Two 17-year-old boys were also charged with murder and violent disorder but cannot be named for legal reasons.

All five individuals have been remanded into custody to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday, January 19).

DCI Chris Woollett said: “Once again, I’d like to thank the public for their support and assistance with our inquiries.

“While there will be an increased police presence as the investigation continues, I can reassure the community of Seaham that we believe this was an isolated incident, and we have no information to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Daniel Ambler.”
