Tragedy as girl dies in Shincliffe collision

A girl has sadly died following a collision yesterday evening (Thursday, September 24).
The incident happened on Shincliffe Lane at around 5.30pm, and involved a Fiat 500 and a Ford Transit van.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a passenger in the Fiat was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A second passenger was taken to University Hospital North Durham for treatment. Both drivers sustained minor injuries.
