Fallen colleagues remembered

The force’s Casualty Reduction Coordinator, Pete Tate, and retired PC Nick Prest successfully completed the annual Police Unity Tour on Sunday.

The duo, accompanied by members of Durham Roads & Armed Policing Motorcycle Section, Durham Police Federation and rider support, made the gruelling 250-mile journey to the UK Police Memorial at the National Arboretum, in Staffordshire, where they were met by Chief Constable Rachel Bacon.

There they gathered alongside hundreds of policing colleagues from across the UK and the families of fallen officers to remember those who had made the ultimate sacrifice.

The ride also raised thousands of pounds for the Care Of Police Survivors (COPS) - a charity which supports families who have lost a loved one in the line of duty.
