Darlington Neighbourhood Team have been busy recently rounding up those who are wanted or have failed to appear at court for various offences.

While officers were out on patrol last weekend, the following were located and arrested:

  • Metin Ucarcan, who was wanted in connection with a stabbing which took place on April 6, was found on Saturday by PCs Anwar and Barron in Chilton. The 33-year-old was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article in a public place. He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday (May 11) and was remanded in custody to appear at Teesside Crown Court on June 8.
  • Christopher Haines was arrested by officers on Haughton Road on Friday for failing to appear at court in relation to traffic offences. The 40-year-old was remanded in custody and appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday where he was jailed for 14 weeks after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
  • Levi Green was arrested at an address in Geneva Road on Friday and remanded in custody to appear at court the following day. The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine and magistrates fined him and ordered for the drugs to be destroyed.
  • Well-known shoplifter, Kelly Greenwell, was wanted after failing to appear at court earlier this year for, you guessed it, shoplifting. The 45-year-old was spotted by PC Anwar on North Road on Saturday and arrested and brought into custody. She was remanded to appear before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe on Monday who ordered her to pay compensation.
  • Grant Trodden was arrested on May 8 on Victoria Road for failing to appear at court in relation to a shoplifting incident. The 55-year-old was remanded in custody to appear at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court the following day, where he was handed a conditional discharge and ordered to pay a fine.
  • Ryan Blareau was arrested on Friday and remanded in custody to appear Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The 39-year-old is due back at court on June 8 for the offence of possession of a knife in a public place.
  • Officers arrested Ayden Carrick on Yarm Road on Friday – he was wanted for failing to appear at court for a harassment incident. The 34-year-old appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court the following day where he was handed a six-month conditional discharge.
  • Gavin Smith was arrested on Saturday and remanded in custody to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday. The 34-year old was charged with a number of offences, including theft and burglary, and released on bail to appear back at court on August 12.
  • Officers were called at 11.20am on Sunday to reports of a shoplifting in progress at the Co-Op in Cockerton. Neighbourhood officers attended on an immediate response and arrested a man outside the shop, who still had hold of the alleged stolen items. A 37-year-old man was charged with shoplifting and released on bail to appear at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on September 14.

While carrying out these arrests, officers also located and recovered a stolen BMW 1 Series and Audi Q5.

Failing to appear at court is a serious matter. Do not think you will be forgotten about – you will remain on our radar, and we will track you down and arrest you.
