PC recruitment: Meet PC Janette Croft

From Iraq to Bishop Auckland.

Janette Croft joined the Army in September 1998, aged just 16 years old.

After completing her training she went on to spend 23 years with the Royal Regiment of Artillery, rising from Gunner to Warrant Officer Class Two.

Her service included operational tours of Iraq in 2003, Cyprus in 2004 and Afghanistan in 2011. She carried out roles including AS90 Operator, Signals Operator and finished her military career as the Motor Transport Warrant Officer.

But at 44, she knew she wasn’t done serving.

After joining us as a PCSO in 2023 and working as part of our Bishop Auckland Police neighbourhood team, Janette is now training to become a police constable.

“I’m loving the training and feel a real sense of pride in what I’m doing. After 23 years in the military, I felt I had more to achieve and wanted to help more of the community.”
