Illegal bike seized by Darlington PCSOs

Another antisocial off-road bike seized by officers.

This Sur-Ron was seized on Sunday evening (May 18) after an eagle-eyed PCSO spotted a local youth riding it in Darlington.

The town’s CCTV operators were quickly alerted and managed to locate the bike entering an address on Firthmoor, where officers were on hand to swoop in and seize it as the bike:

• Was not displaying a registration plate and is not road legal
• It was not insured to be on the road (or indeed the pavement)
• The 16-year-old rider was not wearing a helmet
• He was riding in excess of the speed limit and in a dangerous manner, posing a risk not only to himself, but to others.

Further enquiries also revealed the youth’s moped was seized a few months ago after he rode it antisocially around the town.
