Two people have appeared at court following an alleged robbery in Darlington.
Officers were called just before 1am on Sunday (March 30) after a woman reported being attacked in an alleyway between Columbia Street and Craig Street and had her handbag stolen.
She sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the incident was launched by Darlington CID and officers arrested two people earlier this week.
Rebecca Raper, 42, of Brighton Road, Darlington, and Dean Nicholson, 30, of Flamingo Close, Darlington, have since been charged with robbery.
The pair appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court yesterday (April 3) where neither entered any pleas.
Mr Nicholson was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, May 8, while Ms Raper was released on bail to appear at court on the same day.
