Officers and staff have raised funds for local heart charity

Officers and staff from Durham Constabulary have raised funds to support a North-East charity offering help to those with heart conditions.
The annual five-a-side football tournament, which is now in it’s 10th year, returned this spring with a total of 5 mixed teams taking part from a range of departments.
The teams gathered at Goals in Sunderland on Friday morning (April 25) and battled it out in the hope of being crowned force champions.
The overall winners were ‘Largentina’, captained by Inspecter Simon Peele, who have won the competition five years in a row.
Deputy Chief Constable Ciaron Irvine joined in on the activities and presented the winners with the tournament trophy.
The tournament raised money for local charity Red Sky Foundation which provides vital support for babies, children and adults with cardiac problems throughout the region; helping little hearts and their families.
Detective Inspector John Bates, who arranged the tournament said: “It’s great to see the enthusiasm return every year for this tournament and the support from people right across the force.
“I’d like to thank everyone for making the effort and coming down to Goals on their day off to support this very worthy cause.
“Red Sky Foundation has supported and continues to support some of our own officers and staff and their families, so it is great to be able to give something back to them.”
