Serious assault investigation launched

An investigation is ongoing tonight following a serious assault in Ferryhill.

Officers were called to Parker Terrace just after 10.30am this morning following reports two men had been attacked.

A 49-year-old man suffered injuries to his eyes when an unknown substance was thrown in his face while the 44-year-old man he was with suffered stab injuries.

The men were taken to hospital for treatment where they remain.
An investigation was immediately launched and several enquiries are ongoing.

Officers are confident that this was a targeted, isolated attack between individuals who are all known to each other and do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.

Officers would like to thank the community for their support and patience whilst the road was closed as initial enquiries took place.
The road has now reopened.
