Nuisance off-road biker caught by Newton Aycliffe neighbourhood officers

Newton Aycliffe Policing Team were patrolling on Saturday night when a call came in to report a nuisance off-road bike being ridden around the Denes area.

Sergeant Crawford and PCs Roberts and Tyers raced to the scene on foot as PCSOs Kipling and Penman got the drone up to track the nuisance rider.

The teenager initially thought he could play hide and seek but was soon in cuffs and his bike seized – ironically under one of the force’s Section 59 warning signs which was pointed out to him.

In areas with Section 59 warning signs, anyone seen driving in an antisocial manner in the area can have their vehicle seized straightaway.

The 15-year-old rider was reported for driving offences and will be summonsed to court in due course.

The bike was seized and is expected to be crushed.
