WATCH: "Don't tell me what to do" | Durham's worst drink drivers of 2025
“You can’t tell me what I can and can’t do.”
The words of a drunk van driver who fell asleep at the wheel.
He’s just one of the drivers to make it into this year’s compilation of drink drivers, marking the start of Operation Limit – our Christmas drink driving campaign.
Alongside him are a coach driver who was more than twice the legal limit while transporting schoolchildren into Durham City, and a man who thought the flashing blue lights were his own personal police escort.
Plus, a drink driver who crashed his car into a tree on the A19, only to be crashed into moments later by a second drink driver, narrowly avoiding the police officers on scene.
Excuses, apologies, and angry slurring of words follow, but there simply is no justification for driving under the influence.
Some of the collisions we’ve included in this video resulted in serious injuries. We didn’t include the ones where the innocent victims lost their lives.
Don’t risk it.
