Two die in Ferryhill collision

Two people have sadly died following a collision in the early hours of this morning.
At around 1.40am today (November 1), officers attended a one-vehicle collision on the A167 at Ferryhill involving a Ford KA.
The vehicle is believed to have come off the road and come to rest on a petrol station forecourt on the opposite side of the carriageway.
Medical assistance was provided to the two occupants of the car by both police officers and paramedics, but tragically both the adult male and female were pronounced dead at the scene.
Their families have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
The car is believed to have been travelling northbound at the time of the collision, from Chilton towards Thinford.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage of the vehicle prior to the collision.
