A new trend is circulating where young people are being added to group chats without their consent or knowledge.
These chats can sometimes include harmful or inappropriate content that’s not suitable for children.
If you’re a parent or carer, it’s a good time to:
Have an open conversation with your child about online and phone safety.
Check privacy settings and parental controls on their devices and apps.
Remember: most games and social media platforms have multiple communication features including text and voice chats, private messages, image sharing, video calls, and livestreaming.
While some platforms have moderators to remove harmful content, not all do.
With technology now easily accessible, help keep your children safe online.
If you believe one of your or your child’s accounts has been hacked, report it to Action Fraud.
