Stop, search and find.
A vehicle loaded with more than £100k and travelling through County Durham was stopped by officers on the A1M just after 7pm last night.
Durham Roads and Armed Policing officers deployed immediately from Spennymoor and caught up with the vehicle as it headed down south on the motorway.
Officers pulled the vehicle over near Bradbury and following a search of the vehicle, located around £100,000 in shopping bags inside.
The driver, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering and taken into custody before being transported to another police force.
The vehicle was also seized to be forensically examined.
Working with colleagues in other forces allows our officers to monitor activity on the road networks, share information quickly about moving criminals and take action where necessary.
We will continue to act on information to eradicate this form of criminality from our region.
