Are you worried your partner might have a history of domestic abuse?
Did you know you can ask police for information about them through the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme?
Also known as Clare’s Law, it allows you to request information from police about whether a current or ex-partner has a history of domestic abuse or violence.
A disclosure can provide potentially life-saving information to help people make a more informed decision about whether to continue the relationship they’re in.
In 2024, we processed 1,564 applications.
Anyone can make an application for information if they are worried their current or ex-partner may have a history of abuse and are a risk to them.
Applications can be made online here http://www.durham.police.uk/.../request-information.../
If you or someone you know is experiencing sexual violence, tell us.
Call 101, or 999 if you or someone you know is in immediate danger.
