Hide and Seek Champion of the Week goes to PC Jarvie of B Relief Response...
At around 3am yesterday morning (August 6), officers spotted a suspicious looking vehicle driving erratically on the A167 at Beaumont Hill, just outside Darlington.
They brought the car to a stop and asked to speak with the driver.
As officers invited him to take a seat in their van, the driver took the opportunity to leg it up the road, through woodland, and into a nearby field.
PC Jarvie gave chase and ran after the man, but lost him as he fled into the dark woodland and disappeared into the field.
Not one to give up his Hide and Seek Champion title too easily, PC Jarvie scaled a few fences before reaching a farmyard where he found the suspect in an amateur hiding spot – underneath a caravan.
He was red-dotted and arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including TWOC (taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent), driving while unfit through drink or drugs, and driving without a licence or insurance.
He was taken to custody where he was dealt with by officers.
