Congratulations PC Hubbard!
In April, we told you about the heroic actions of PC Mikei Hubbard who came to the aid of pensioner, Stewart Thomson, after he suffered a stroke whilst on a walk with his wife in Framwellgate Moor.
The patrolling officer sprang into action to help the Army veteran, giving emergency first aid and blue-lighting him to hospital where medics were able to save Mr Thomson’s life because of PC Hubbard’s speedy intervention.
PC Hubbard and Mr Thomson were later reunited and we are thrilled to report that Mr Thomson made a full recovery under the expert care of his wife, Janice, who he is now back to enjoying his daily walks with.
And for his heroic actions, PC Hubbard was nominated for a Chief Constable’s Commendation which he has now been awarded.
PC Hubbard said: “I’m truly honoured to receive a commendation for doing what I love: supporting my community.
“Some have said that I went above and beyond, but I believe I simply did what any other officer would have done in that situation.
“I’m just happy I could help, and I'm glad to hear that Mr Thompson made a wonderful recovery.”
