It is with great sadness that we must report a body has been found in the search for Darren Crow who went missing in May.
Darren was last seen in Grinton Park Way, in Darlington, in the early hours of Thursday, May 29.
His car – a gold coloured Honda Civic – was later seen at around 8.30pm the same day in the Tindale area.
An extensive search was carried out by police, which involved CCTV trawls, analysis of Darren’s mobile phone, ANPR enquiries, and house-to-house enquiries.
Sadly, these searches did not result in Darren, or his car, being found and the operation was stood down pending any new information.
Last night (August 11), a farmer alerted police to a body that had been found in woodland near Willington.
Formal identification has yet to take place, but it is believed to be the body of the missing 44-year-old.
Darren’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Our thoughts are with Darren’s family and friends during this difficult time, and we would ask that their privacy is respected as they attempt to come to terms with what has happened.
Sadly, Darren’s car remains outstanding, and police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen it.
It is a yellow/gold coloured Honda Civic, registration number OV62 WJZ, and is thought to be in the Binchester, Willington, or Bishop Auckland areas.
