12 neighbourhood teams.
272 neighbourhood officers.
One aim – to serve and protect our communities.
This Neighbourhood Policing Week we will be highlighting the vital work these teams carry out day in day out to keep our communities safe.
These officers work closely with partner agencies in the heart of their communities to respond to local issues and concerns around everything from antisocial behaviour and nuisance vehicles, to drug use and serious violence.
Durham’s Chief Constable Rachel Bacon said: “People want to feel safe where they live and work - neighbourhood policing is at the very heart of this.
“Our neighbourhood police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) work hard to understand their communities so they can identify and tackle the issues that matter to them.
“This week is a chance to shine a light on all the vital work our neighbourhood policing teams do every day to help make County Durham and Darlington a safe place to live.”
