Yesterday, officers from our off-road motorcycle team were on patrol in Darlington when they spotted an electric off-road motorbike being ridden antisocially near Hutton Avenue.
The rider, who was also not wearing a helmet, made off from officers and a pursuit was authorised.
A man was arrested a short time later in Five Arches Nature Reserve and taken to police custody.
An 18-year-old man has since been charged with dangerous driving, using a vehicle without insurance, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, failing to stop, riding a motorcycle without a helmet, riding on a footpath/bridleway, and failing to comply with regulations made under the Vehicle Excise and Registration Act.
He has been released on bail to appear at Peterlee Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 14.
