A man has been charged following a serious assault at Frankland prison, in Durham, on Friday, May 10, last year.
Damien Bendall, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted murder.
The 35-year-old has been remanded in custody and will appear at Teesside Crown Court on Thursday, May 21.
The victim sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital but is now recovering.
