PD's Jenna and Demon set to retire from force

Main article content

Published: 15:05 21/01/2025 Updated: 15:05 21/01/2025
It’s time to take a step back for our landsharks PD's Jenna and Demon.

The fluffy pair are retiring from the force after more than six years of catching baddies and keeping County Durham and Darlington safe.

PD Jenna came to Durham from a breeder at 12 months old and was partnered with her handler PC Gemma Ryder. The duo have been inseparable since.

PC Ryder said: “Jenna is a special dog and has a lovely calm and sociable side to her personality.

“She has kept me safe for the past seven years and she thoroughly deserves her place on my sofa.”

PD Demon, a brindle Dutch Herder was partnered with his handler PC Alan Bates.

Unfortunately, PD Demon doesn’t get along with large dominant male dogs so wasn’t able to be rehomed with his handler however he is on the hunt for a new owner who has experience of his breed or similar high drive working breeds to accommodate his needs.

Demon is approaching his 8th birthday and could be housed with sociable spayed females or smaller sociable male dogs, he would not be suited with another dominant male. Unfortunately, Demon cannot be rehomed with cats.

Demon is not suitable for households with young children. If they are children at home, they will need to be older, confident and have an understanding of the breed.

He is a very strong boy with a lot of energy to burn therefore he will need an active family who can keep up with the exercise he will require on a daily basis to keep him both physically and mentally stimulated.

Although Demon is a high drive, energetic dog, this handsome chap absolutely adores attention and belly rubs.

Anyone interested in offering Demon a loving forever home please email your interest to [email protected].

Please include information as to why you think your home is suitable to meet all of the above requirements for Demon.

Applications will be checked next week and eligible successful candidates will be contacted in due course.

Thank you for your loyal service PD Jenna and Demon, it’s time to rest up now and enjoy retirement life!
