PD Rex plays hide and seek

PD Rex loves a good game of hide and seek and he wasn’t giving up when he tracked three suspects for more than a mile as they made off from Bowburn Services in the early hours of this morning.

Reports had come in of a suspicious vehicle at the services at 1am and vehicle checks suggested the occupants could be known vehicle thieves from the Bradford area.

Two suspects were arrested when Roads and Armed Policing Unit officers stopped the car but a further three bolted into a field so PD Rex was brought in to play with his handler Jack Hamilton.

The diligent canine tracked the trio through several fields and barbed wire fences until he reached a garden shed.

PD Rex’s reliable nose indicated on a snood and gloves hidden behind the shed and on opening the shed door, the three men were promptly found and arrested.

A quantity of cannabis was also seized.

All five were arrested on suspicion of several offences including conspiracy to steal, drug driving, going equipped and burglary.

They were taken into custody where they remain this morning and PD Rex was rewarded with his favourite treat.
