Three people were arrested during an operation to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Chester-le-Street.
Neighbourhood officers, police community support officers and special constables executed a warrant as part of Operation Drive in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17.
One man, in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and possession of controlled drugs and taken into custody.
Elsewhere, a 39-year-old woman was recalled to prison and a 17-year-old man was arrested for a breach of tag.
Officers and police community support officers were in the Market Place throughout the day, talking to members of the public.
They were joined by staff from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, local councillors and street wardens.
Many businesses were also visited as part of Business Crime Action Week to discuss what is being done to tackle shoplifting and antisocial behaviour.
Additional foot patrols were carried out, officers were out and about on E-bikes and our roads policing officers carried out a number of vehicle checks.
Chester-le-Street Neighbourhood Inspector Simon Hogg, of Durham Constabulary, said: “This operation has been carried out to target repeat offenders and address the community concerns in relation to anti-social behaviour and drug-related issues.
“We want to create a safer environment for the people who live and work here.
“We will not tolerate any kind of criminal behaviour and if you break the law you are going to have to accept the consequences of your actions.”
“This is not just a one-off operation, we have done this before and we will do it again, whether it be next week, next month or in six months’ time.”
Anyone with any information about anti-social behaviour happening in their area should call 101, or 999 in an emergency.
