Don’t know where to turn? We can point you in the right direction.
Residents and businesses in Durham City are noticing a big change with lower numbers of anti-social behaviour incidents being reported.
One of the ways the neighbourhood team are helping drive down incidents is by ensuring that everyone has received a leaflet pack with up-to-date information and details about who to turn to if they have a problem.
This means issues such as begging, late night noisy parties, or people acting anti socially in the city are dealt with fast and by the appropriate agency.
Thousands of leaflets, produced by the City of Durham Parish Council have now been delivered to homes and businesses across Durham.
The latest leaflet ‘Durham City Safety and Wellbeing Card’ was produced by a dedicated team of partner agencies in the City Operational Group (COG), who meet monthly to deliver bespoke interventions for a key cohort of individuals, who are regular faces in the city.
The COG includes representatives from housing support, the winter night shelter and Sanctuary 21.
The group help to ensure that the policing of the city is not only highly effective but is also proportionate and fair – no matter what a person’s individual circumstances are.
Inspector Dave Clarke, from Durham City neighbourhood team said: “Businesses, visitors and residents are noticing a big change in Durham City, with noticeably lower antisocial behaviour and a nicer atmosphere.
“This is partly due to the unified COG approach and robust policing and the introduction of a Public Space Protection Order, which spells out behaviour that will not be tolerated.
“We’re putting measures in place and we’re starting to see the results.”
We’ll be sharing stories on our socials all week about how we’re working hard to drive down anti-social behaviour across the county - keep an eye out
