Happy retirement PC Marsh

A neighbourhood policing stalwart will walk the beat for the final time this week after 20 years in Barnard Castle.
PC Harry Marsh joined Durham Constabulary having begun his career with the British Transport Police, in Darlington in 1990 before becoming a detective in Middlesbrough.
After joining Durham, he has worked in Newton Aycliffe, Shildon and Sedgefield before jumping at the chance to join Barnard Castle Neighbourhood Police Team.
Over the years, PC Marsh has become a familiar face around Barnard Castle and has made a significant impact with the town’s Shop Watch scheme.
“It’s been a real privilege,” he said. “It doesn’t feel like I have been in this role for 20 years. I never wanted to leave.
“I don’t think it has sunk in that I am leaving. I am looking forward to the next chapter, but I will miss this one.”
PC Marsh was joined by Chief Constable Rachel Bacon on one of his final patrols through the town centre.
He plans to immerse himself in his passion for history, in particular the Second World War, and hopes to visit some of the historic sites associated with period of history.
