Interested in becoming a call handler? Meet James, our newest recruit, sharing his journey so far.
After spotting our job advert on our website, James applied after feeling the urge to make a difference and support others.
“My eldest is heading off to university and I wanted to move into a full-time role to not only support the public, but my family too – I want to help them wherever I can.”
Previously a school caretaker, James joined the team as part of eight new recruits into the control room earlier this year.
“The buzz in the control room is great, my colleagues are fantastic and as I’m still learning there’s always someone to help offer advice or explain a question I have," he adds.
“There’s a real willingness to help and protect the public that I have noticed, even with only being here a short time. Everyone plays their part in trying to make someone’s life better.”
His top tip? "Don't talk yourself out of applying. The training is excellent and your life experience is invaluable.
“You’re helped at every step along the way and the team are so supportive.”
