A man who launched objects at officers during a standoff in Newton Aycliffe last month has been jailed.
Kane Sams threatened to harm officers as he armed himself with a nail-laden piece of wood during the incident at Compound 20 on June 28.
The 35-year-old proceeded to throw objects from a skip including bricks, metal bars and paint pots as officers tried to calm him down.
Sams, of Newton Aycliffe, was eventually arrested and taken into custody.
He was subsequently charged with possessing an offensive weapon and using threatening behaviour with the intent to cause fear/provoke unlawful violence.
Sams was put before Newton Aycliffe Magistrates on June 30 where he pleaded guilty to the threatening behaviour charge. The other charge was withdrawn.
He was sentenced to a total of 17 weeks in prison.
