Last month we reported that we had charged John Kinsella following a burglary in Ferryhill.
The 56-year-old was arrested after he stole bank cards from a couple’s home before using them to buy cigarettes on October 19.
Kinsella, of Ferryhill, was put before Newton Aycliffe magistrates on October 21 and was remanded into custody.
We’re happy to report the has now been sentenced to two years and seven months in prison after appearing at Durham Crown Court on Tuesday (November 18) where he pleaded guilty to burglary and fraud by false representation.
Inspector Pete Newman, of Ferryhill Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We’re glad to see Kinsella has been put behind bars and hope this gives our residents some reassurance especially as the winter nights draw in.
“We will continue to patrol our streets to deter opportunist burglars who operate at this time of year and would encourage all residents to double check their home security in the run up to Christmas.”
