A burglar who tried to make off with machinery and power tools has been jailed.
Robert Peter Holliday snapped the locks of a Cumbrian business last September before stealing the keys to a truck and filling it with the stolen items before making off.
The 36-year-old, of Wolsingham, also stole a trailer and two diggers before driving into the Durham force area.
Durham officers arrested Holliday in Billy Row in October and handed him over the Cumbria Police colleagues.
And on Tuesday, January 7, Holliday was sentenced to two years four months for theft of a motor vehicle, theft and burglary.
Detective Inspector Pete Lonsdale, of Bishop Auckland CID, said: “Holliday is a prolific offender who clearly thought he was above the law.
“Thanks to the close work with our colleagues in Cumbria, he was remanded and we are glad to see he has been taken off the streets.”
