Burglar jailed after being caught red handed

Prolific burglar Kyle Rocky Brennan has been sent to prison after being caught in the act breaking into a garage in Sacriston last December.

Vigilant residents reported several attempts after seeing the 39-year-old trying door handles in the early hours on their CCTV and doorbell cameras.

Officers raced to the scene and apprehended Brennan in a garage.

Brennan, of Sacriston, was found in possession of a torch, gloves, snood and trainers which bizarrely had the soles covered by socks.

Further enquiries with residents allowed officers to gather enough evidence to charge him with burglary, fraud and nine attempted burglaries.

And at Durham Crown Court yesterday, he was sentenced to a total of two years and four months imprisonment the offences.

Detective Sergeant Mal Ord, of West CID, said: “Brennan clearly thought he could chance his luck but thanks to the evidence provided by residents officers were quickly able to identify him and link him to several other crimes.

“I would particularly like to thank those that provided CCTV evidence and witness accounts that assisted us in our investigation and meant Brennan had no choice but to plead guilty at court.”
