Woman who filmed herself assaulting her ex-partner is jailed

A woman who filmed herself assaulting her ex-partner and hit a woman with a wine bottle has been jailed.

Kelsey Bainbridge filmed the attack on her ex-partner and uploaded the video to social media.

The video was posted with a caption telling the man to “prepare for his funeral because he is going in a coffin”.

During the prolonged attack, Bainbridge punched and stabbed the man with several items, including an ornament and picture frame.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries, which included a large cut to his head.

Bainbridge had also assaulted a woman – one of her former friends - with a broken Lambrini bottle, leaving her with swelling and cuts to her head.

The 26-year-old was arrested in Spennymoor on the morning of Saturday, July 5, where she was found carrying a shovel.

She was taken into police custody and questioned by officers.

Bainbridge, of Spennymoor, was charged and later admitted attempted wounding with intent, wounding, and possession of an offensive weapon.  

She appeared at Teesside Crown Court last Thursday, December 11, where she was jailed for two years and six months.

Detective Constable Lynette Baker, from Durham Constabulary’s South Safeguarding Team, led the investigation.

She said: “These were violent and sustained attacks on two people which left them needing hospital treatment.

“Hopefully, with Bainbridge behind bars, they can continue the process of recovering from these horrific incidents and move on with their lives.”
