Interceptors a hit at Dreamcar event

Officers from the hit tv show 'Police Interceptors' were among the attractions at the 'Dreamcar' event staged near Darlington on Sunday.

The event, which was the first of its kind, took place at Croft racing circuit on June 12, and gave people the chance to be a passenger in one of the hi-tech racing cars as they sped round the track.

More than £50 million worth of supercars attended the event, with pride of place  taken by a McLaren P1 GTR – courtesy of Gibson Motorsport – one of only 35 of its kind in the world.

The day was hosted by Craig Phillips and Miss Newcastle Melissa Crawford (also reporting for Made in Tyne and Wear), and supported by a host of celebrities including the recent 'I’m a Celebrity' queen of the jungle, Vicky Pattison ('Geordie Shore').

Thousands of people flocked to the show with many of them making a beeline for some of the road policing cops who are featured in 'Police Interceptors' on Channel 5 every Monday night.

Sgt Kev Salter plus interceptors 'Spike' and 'Damo' met fans of the show, and even put the cuffs on Vicky Pattison at one stage!

Also on display was a fleet of American police cars alongside the official UK KITT from the tv show 'Knight Rider'.

Dreamcar also raised vital funds for the NSPCC to help continue its vital work with children and young people.
