 22/08/2016

A robbery took place on Saturday, 13th August at around 11.45pm at the junction of Ullswater Close and Works Road in Spennymoor.

The victim was a man cycling home from his place of work in Spennymoor town centre.

As he approached the junction and dismounted he was suddenly attacked by another man, thought to be aged 20-25 who grabbed
hold of the victim’s mountain bike.

The victim tried to hold on to his bike but he had to let go when he was punched in the face by his attack.

Fortunately he was not seriously hurt but the robber was able to ride off in the direction of the town centre on the stolen cycle.

The stolen bicycle is a grey Diamondback Mountain Bike (similar to the one pictured) and the attacker was white, slim to athletic build, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall.
