Burglars attempt to raid cash machine in Coxhoe

Burglars have attempted to raid a cash machine in Coxhoe.

The incident happened at the Co-op, Coxhoe between 10.30-11.00pm last night (November 8).

Detective Constable, Darren Cresswell of Durham City CID said: “We understand that the suspects have used some kind of substance to try and blow up the cash machine. They were unsuccessful in their attempts. They then forced open roller shutters to break in to the store but left empty-handed.

“This attack has rendered the ATM out of use, as well as causing damage to the store’s doors.”

Police are appealing for witnesses and are also looking to trace a dark coloured VW which is reported to have sped off near to the scene.
