A DISQUALIFIED driver led police on a three-mile high-speed chase in a car taken after a house burglary three days earlier, a court heard.
Having driven well above speed limits on country roads and made a series of risky manoeuvres in a bid to escape the police, Lee Anthony Chapman was eventually stopped when officers deplpyed a ‘stinger’ device to deflate the tyres of the vehicle.
The 23-year-old, whose previous motoring convictions meant he was already supposed to be banned from the roads until at least 2021, was jailed for a total of 20 months at Durham Crown Court earlier this week.
Chapman, from West Auckland was driving a Ford Mondeo previously stolen during a '2 in 1' burglary in March this year.
