Appeal for vehicle sightings after Darlington cash machine raid

DETECTIVES investigating a cash machine raid are appealing for witnesses who may have seen two suspect vehicles in the area more than three hours before the theft.
The standalone cash machine was taken from inside the Asda store in Blackett Road, Darlington at around 2.40am on Saturday.
Thieves forced their way into the building, causing damage to the store front and using a vehicle to remove the ATM from inside the store.
A silver Ford Transit van and a red Seat Ibiza were seen making off from the scene and turning right onto Haughton Road at 2.48am.
Now, police investigating the theft have revealed they now believe both vehicles were in the area several hours before the incident took place.
It is thought the Seat was in the supermarket car park at approximately 11pm on Friday night and the Ford Transit was in nearby Blackett Road at the same time.
Detective constable Ali Blackett, said: “Both vehicles appear to have been in the area several hours before the theft took place.
“We would appeal for anyone who saw a red Seat Ibiza in the Asda car park or a silver Ford Transit in Blackett Road at approximately 11pm on Friday to get in touch with us urgently.
“Alternatively, we would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area at around 2.40am on Saturday when the theft took place”.
Officers say they would also like to hear from anyone with dashcam footage which may show either of the suspect vehicles.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 45 of March 23.
Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
