Agreed at previous meeting 18/05/2016 the following priority
Over recent months there has been an increase in reports regarding aggressive begging in the Town Centre and of those persons fighting over prime locations.
This is what we have done
We have identified that the vast majority of the Town Centre Beggars have homes and are supplementing their benefits by begging.
We have signposted them to local charities that can assist them if they are struggling such as First Stop and The Food Bank and NECA if they are struggling with substance misuse issues.
Persons who are aggressively begging and being abusive to members of the public or other beggars will be reported for any offences.
These are the policing priorities that local people have agreed with your policing
team. You can have some influence on future policing priorities by attending your
next PACT meeting.
Rural issues to be discussed
The meetings will be attended by a representative from your neighbourhood policing team and your local councillor, they will be specific to your area and individual neighbourhood priorities will be discussed. All members of the community are welcome.
