When a plan comes together.

At around 10.15pm last night we were alerted to a stolen motorbike from Northumbria’s area that was believed to be on its way into our patch.

Control room dispatchers alerted Cumbria Police while officers from the force’s Roads and Armed Policing Unit sprang into action and headed towards Crook and Willington.

The bike was located and intercepted on the A689 at Harperly and a pursuit ensued.

Officers set up the stinger ahead of the bike but when the rider and his passenger clocked it, they decamped and tried to make off by running across some fields.

Officers swiftly chased them down and arrested them on suspicion of theft of a motorvehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug driving, having no insurance or licence and possession with intent to supply drugs after bags of drugs were recovered.

Two teenagers, both aged 19, were taken into custody where they remain today.
