Two teenagers who were arrested following an attempted robbery in Newton Aycliffe on Monday have appeared at court.
The boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court yesterday (October 25).
One boy, 16, was charged with attempted robbery, racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment, breach of a Community Behaviour Order (CBO), aggravated vehicle taking, using a motor vehicle without insurance and using threatening/abusive words/behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He pleaded guilty to the racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment and not guilty to all other charges.
The other boy, 17, was charged with attempted robbery, aggravated vehicle taking, two breaches of a CBO, driving whilst disqualified and using a motorvehicle with no insurance.
He pleaded guilty to one breach of his CBO, did not enter a plea for another breach and not guilty to all other charges.
The 16-year-old was bailed with an intense supervision order until his next appearance at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on November 4.
The 17-year-old was remanded into custody until his next appearance at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on October 31.
