A man has been jailed following a stabbing in Horden in January.
Gavin Jackson, 34, was handed a 24-month prison sentence after admitting affray and grievous bodily harm at court yesterday.
On January 14, shortly before 2am, police were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Third Street.
Officers attended and found the victim on the floor with multiple wounds to his head.
Armed officers found Jackson on a nearby street and arrested him using a taser after he refused to follow instructions.
The victim was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough and was treated for his injuries.
Jackson was taken into custody and charged.
He appeared at Durham Crown Court yesterday morning (June 7) and plead guilty to the offences.
Detective Constable Benjamin Cloke, from Peterlee CID said: “This type of violent behaviour cannot and will not be tolerated by the people of County Durham and Darlington and we will always seek to bring violent offenders to justice with the support of our communities.”
