Police are appealing for witnesses after a biker died in a collision in the Dales at the weekend.

A blue Yamaha motorbike was on the B6276, east of Brough, at around 3.45pm yesterday (Sunday, July 18) when it left the road after colliding with a barrier.

Despite the best efforts of the emergency services and members of the public, the male rider was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances is now underway.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any further information should call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 331 of July 18.
